Thanks for the tip I will do what you suggest,performance is the least concern for me since GM is only used for loading a bunch of GM tables into memory on startup.

MagickPanda I've managed to get a experimental 64bit build going. I needed all the changes you suggest and then some.
Unfortunately your attachment 'gmamd64.zip' appears to be corrupted and it was not valid in any of the forum backups. Please post it again and perhaps update us on your 64bit or other efforts.

sorry for the late reply.

Heres a copy of earlier version of GM with all changes i proposed(it worked under ubuntu x64 feisty, but i can't test now cause my ubuntu HD crashed):
